The 2024 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show (AEC) is fast approaching and CSBA is thrilled to invite student board members to submit a proposal and lead a presentation for AEC participants. AEC will take place from Dec. 5-7 in Anaheim and offers a unique platform for student trustees to share insights, experiences and innovative ideas that can shape the future of education.

Student board member perspectives are invaluable. Their firsthand experience with the current educational landscape provides them with a unique vantage point that can contribute to meaningful discussions and solutions. Whether their interests lie in educational equity, digital innovation, student well-being or governance practices, student trustee contributions can influence educational policies and practices across California. All trustees should encourage their student board member to voice their ideas and engage with fellow students, educators and trustees in a collaborative and impactful environment at AEC.

Call for proposals
CSBA invites student board members to submit a proposal for a presentation that aligns with one of the major strands of this year’s conference:

  • Access for All: Addressing educational equity and ensuring all students have equal opportunities for success.
  • Digital Transformation in Education: Exploring how technology is reshaping the educational experience and what innovations are on the horizon.
  • Fiscal Strategies and Accountability: Discussing effective financial management and accountability practices within educational institutions.
  • Mental Health, Wellness, and Student Safety: Highlighting initiatives and strategies to support student well-being and safety.
  • Strategies and Practices of Governance: Examining best practices for governance and leadership within the educational sector.
  • Student and Community Engagement: Fostering stronger connections between students, schools and the wider community.

Proposals are being accepted through Sept. 13. To participate, complete the submission form at csba.pub/aec-student-proposal. Collaborating with fellow students or local board members to enhance presentations is encouraged.

Need assistance with your proposal or looking for a co-presenter? Feel free to reach out to the AEC team at aec@csba.org for guidance and support.

What to expect

Selected proposals will be featured as workshops at AEC, providing student board members with a prestigious platform to present ideas and engage with a diverse audience of educational leaders and peers. This is more than just an opportunity to present — it’s a chance to network, gain feedback and contribute to the collective effort of improving education in California.

Student board members shouldn’t miss this chance to share their vision and be a catalyst for change in education.
