CSBA publications win national awards
CSBA was recently recognized with numerous Publications and Digital Media Awards by the National School Public Relations Association. NSPRA’s mission is to advance education through responsible public relations and communication that leads to success for all students.
The awards recognize outstanding education publications, marketing and informational materials and other communications outlets. The following publications were honored:
“Connecting to the future: The digital divide and computer science instruction in California,” explored the digital skills needed for student success in the 21st century, economic and infrastructure barriers to digital access experienced by students and suggestions for bridging the digital divide.
“In safe hands: How school boards can support California’s undocumented students,” provided information on the state’s almost 300,000 undocumented students, the legal responsibility of school districts to provide them with a free public education and resources to help these students feel secure attending school and best practices to encourage an optimal learning environment.
“The meal deal: Subsidized school meals set the table for wide-ranging benefits,” examined the financial and academic costs of under-enrollment in subsidized school meal programs for California school districts, how school nutrition and free or reduced-price meals boost student achievement for low-income students, provided resources to enroll in these programs and highlighted successful meal programs in some California school districts.
The “School Choice in California” infographic, which detailed the array of options available to California’s public school students, received this top honor.
